On My Mind is the official lead single of her third major-label full-length album Delirium. The single premiered on the 17th of September 2015, with it being sent to Contemporary Hit Radio stations on September 21th.[1]

Ellie Goulding announced to Capital Official that her lead single from her third album will be released around March in a tweet. [2]
However, the release was postponed, partly due to the success of "Love Me Like You Do". On August 6th, further information about the single was revealed, confirming the song as the lead single. Furthermore, in an interview with Q Magazine, Goulding stated that fans will be able to hear the song "very soon."
On the 24th of August: according to CapitalFM's Twitter account Ellie stated the new single will be 'very different for her, BUT good different'. [3] Also the track was again confirmed that Max Martin was to produce the song.
On the 14th of Spetember, Ellie revealed an official single promotional gif which will likely be the official single cover art of the song on Instagram. [4] Also, the official Ellie Goulding website, altered their whole layout to the new "On My Mind" era. [5]
The day after, Goulding revealed a 15 second snippet promotion video of the song on all her social media platforms. [6] And it was later announced that the single would premiere on the 17th of September on Capital FM on 8AM.
The song reached 10 milion plays on Spotify 10 days after the release date of the song (17 of September) and the music video reached a million views in less than 24 hours.
Because the original song's art cover does not comply with the new Delirium era's font, it was later changed to suit the style.

Remixes[]
The song had three official remixes accomplished which were published to Ellie's VEVO channel. The first one was mixed by Jax Jones or atleast called 'Jax Jones' while the second and third ones were titled:'Metronomy' and 'Courage' respectively.
These remixes were later included on the On My Mind (Remixes) Single EP which was released on the 16th of October, 2015.

The music video was also filmed on the 24th of August in Las Vegas and was stated to be like Thelma & Louise. [7][8] The music video was directed by Emil Nava.
The video reached a million views in less than a day and was officially VEVO certified for reaching over 100 million views on the 9th of December.
Synopsis[]
The music video bases around having revenge on Ellie's lover by trespassing her lovers casino riding on horses and later possessing her lovers money that has been kept while tying him in a chair with rope.
Composition[]
"On My Mind" was described as a "guitar led, Swiftian tale of a drunken hook up with a tattooed admirer" inspired by a time when she was "on tour, drinking too much and going off the rails" and an upbeat pop banger according to the October, 2015 Q Magazine Interview.
Commerical performance[]
"On My Mind" debuted at number 7 on the UK charts which was the highest new chart entry dated October 1. On the third week, the song climbed to peak of 5. The song also debuted at number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 which marks the weeks highest debut but later reached a new peak of 13.
Elsewhere the song debuted at number 5 in New Zealand and managed to reach number 15 in Australia.
The song reached the Top 40 in: Switzerland (22), Belgium (Ultratip Wallonia) [23], Hungary (24), Germany (26), Belgium (Ultratop 50 Flanders) [33] and in the US Mainstream charts (33) and peaked at number 46 in the Netherlands so far.
